Heath Union Church
Hello everyone! My name is Neil Stetson. A few of you might remember me as “Skip”. I have had the honor to serve as interim pastor of the Heath Church for the better part of a year, and now am the New Pastor. Rosemary and I are very excited to be here. We have always held the hills and people of Heath in high regard. I feel in a way that we have come back home. Our life’s journey has been full. We served the Colrain Community Church, Community Bible Chapel in Brattleboro, were missionaries in Haiti, and in leadership at Center-point Community Church in Ocala, FL, and returned to Colrain 2 years ago. We have 3 grown children, and 6 grandchildren. Thru all the adventures, the highs and lows, our hearts have always been drawn to rural New England, and particularly to West County. So what do we hope for as we begin this new chapter? A rediscovery, if you will, of Authentic Christianity. We have been amazed at how the landscape of the hills has changed since we left for Haiti almost 10 years ago. Vistas and fields that were once open are now being hidden by hedgerows, and trees which block some spectacular views! They are still there, but harder to locate. So also with authentic Christianity. The amazing perspective that you matter to God is still there, however, it is often a challenge to see because of politics invading the church, special issues become the main focus. Power and control hide Jesus’ grace and mercy. Labels like “Conservative vs Liberal”, “Progressive vs Traditional” hang like a fog on a September morning. Old personality conflicts of years gone by mar the landscape. It is our prayer that you will join us as slowly but surely we can clear the brush and debris to rediscover the authenticity of Jesus love and experience the “awe” together. Who knows, we might experience awe- thentic relationship with Jesus and each other!
